The first visit

We recommend a first check-up around the first birthday or when the first teeth appear. It's a short, relaxed visit: we get to know your child, check their mouth and give families advice on brushing, diet and habits such as dummies.

Prevention: sealants and fluoride

Sealants protect the grooves of the back teeth, where decay most easily starts, and fluoride applications strengthen the enamel. These treatments are quick, painless and highly effective.

Treatment adapted to children

If a baby tooth has a cavity, we treat it: baby teeth hold the space for adult teeth and their health matters. We explain each step in simple words, let children touch the instruments and play cartoons on the ceiling screen. We also monitor jaw growth so we can refer to orthodontics in good time if needed.

Tips for families

Brush your child's teeth from the very first one, using a rice-grain-sized smear of fluoride toothpaste until age 3 and a pea-sized amount after that. Help or supervise brushing until around age 7–8, limit sugary snacks between meals and avoid letting them fall asleep with a bottle. Above all, talk about the dentist in a relaxed way: children copy what they see at home.

Frequently asked questions

When should a child first see the dentist?

When the first teeth come through or around their first birthday, and every 6 months after that.

Do baby teeth really need fillings?

Yes, if they have decay. An untreated cavity can hurt, become infected and affect the adult tooth underneath.

My child is scared — what can we do?

We go at their pace, with no rush. The first visit can simply be about getting to know us and sitting in the chair.

Can parents come in?

Yes, parents are welcome to stay with their child during the visit.

What if my child knocks a tooth?

Call us as soon as possible. If an adult tooth has been knocked out, keep it in milk and come straight away: time is critical.
